It’s back to me as a singular economy of
Words and phrases with no one to invest
And as the crows feet get wider and fly away
I’ve had the thought I’ve been caught past my best
Like oil paint flung aimless
All up and down the great white canvas
I could not have imagined this
I guess a new cycle can begin again and I can
Push more on the pile and fill the space that’s free
A drifting eye to throw the pin and plot the course this time
To cast aside and break off to the sea
Pulled and forced to find a source of emotional stenography
I could not have that this be me
In the evening all comes down
Imagine this here it is now
And when the feeling comes around again
Often around the week’s end
A big red sign that reads Welcome Overstayed
And under lock and key it finally is time for me
To find a different value for today
There are some days then others
That pull us tighter under covers
I would not see it go this way
And when the pinging of the phone becomes the only freedom
Echolocation in the light of day
And after late waking, sprinting to the starting line
To qualify to be part of the race
But one then another, the strange connections found in others
Throw ropes to those so out of place.
In the morning, look around
Imagine this here it is now
And in the mental space to now embrace no information
As well as in the hope of moments not yet seen
To be in forward-facing, grounded placement, drop the ball
I’ll see you all in 2017
Like oil paint brought aimless
All up and down the great blue canvas
I don’t know half of what it means
